Advanced Domestic Abuse

Wednesday 16th September | 1pm – 5pm

Course Overview

This course follows on from Understanding Domestic Abuse and offers a more in-depth consideration of abusive relationships, including videos, case studies and workplace learning.

• Deepen awareness of domestic abuse dynamics
• Understand coercive and controlling behaviour
• Explore non-fatal strangulation
• Understand offender behaviour and motivations

The Impact of Domestic Abuse on Children & Young People

Wednesday 21st October 2026 | 1pm – 5pm

Course Overview

This course covers the various impacts of domestic abuse on children and young people. This training is suitable for front-line workers who work directly with families.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand the needs of children and young people
• Understand the effects of domestic abuse on children and young people
• Gain an overview of the effects on parenting capacity
• Understand our response to children and young people exposed to domestic abuse

Stalking & Harassment

14th October | 10.00am – 2.00pm

Course Overview

This training covers understanding the dynamics of stalking and harassment, relevant laws, possible motivations and available support services.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand the dynamics of stalking and harassment
• Understand legislation and recent changes in law
• Understand different types of stalking behaviour
• Identify referral pathways

So-called Honour Based Abuse

5th November | 10.00am – 2.00pm

Course Overview

This training is designed for front-line workers or those in contact with potential victims of Honour-Based Abuse from specialist agencies or universal services.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand honour abuse, forced marriage and FGM
• Recognise cultural abuse within different ethnic groups
• Understand how victims are impacted
• Know how to assess risk safely and refer for specialist support

Coercive Control

Tuesday 29th September | 10am – 2pm

Course Overview

This training course provides an insight into the dynamics of coercive control. It is suitable for those with previous and recent formal training in domestic abuse.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand the concept of coercive control
• Understand controlling behaviours
• Spot signs and identify patterns
• Be aware of relevant laws in the UK

Domestic Abuse Trauma

Tuesday 24th November | 9.30am – 1.30pm

Course Overview

This training is designed to create an understanding of domestic abuse trauma and its complexities.

Learning Outcomes

• Understand trauma relating to domestic abuse
• Understand effects on the brain, mind and body
• Understand traumatic effects on adult and child victims
• Adopt a trauma-informed approach

Technology Facilitated Abuse

TBC | 10am – 2pm

Course Overview

This course examines the role of technology within domestic abuse, including online harassment, tracking and spyware.

Learning Outcomes

• Identify technology facilitated domestic abuse
• Understand how technology can be used to abuse individuals
• Review legal and ethical frameworks
• Understand safety planning and support

Personal & Professional Boundaries

Wednesday 23rd September | 1pm – 5pm

Course Overview

This training is designed for managers, staff and volunteers working with adults and families in any agency.

• Understand appropriate professional boundaries
• Identify personal boundaries
• Understand healthy personal and professional relationships
