Alongside providing immediate and emergency support for women experiencing domestic abuse, eve also offers a range of specialist services to aid long-term recovery after escaping abuse.
Our Restored Programme is a unique, trauma-informed recovery programme designed specifically for women who have experienced domestic abuse. It is a deeply transformative journey and is currently the only programme of its kind available in the UK.
In this article, we highlight the features and benefits of the Restored Programme, celebrate the inspiring women who graduated in 2025, and explain why continued funding for this life-changing work is more important than ever.
What Is The Restored Programme?
The Restored Programme is based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, which recognises that human motivation and fulfilment stem from five essential needs: Physiological, Safety, Love & Belonging, Esteem, and Self-Actualisation.
Our students are guided through each stage with a range of activities at their own pace. Through this process, we help them safely process trauma, share their story, and rebuild their confidence. The end goal is for every woman to move forward from the programme into a life that is safe, secure, and fully their own.
Life-Saving Steps
We have developed a holistic approach to the Restore Programme, ensuring each student is supported through every stage of their recovery. From one-to-one therapy sessions to group volunteering with the community, recovery relies on a mixture of emotional, educational, and social activities.
One-to-One Keyworker Support
There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution when it comes to processing the impact of domestic abuse. The continuous control, manipulation, and belittling experience by survivors often strips them of their independence, self-belief, and ability to conduct essential life skills.
Daily tasks many of us take for granted, such as budgeting, cooking from a recipe, or setting up a bank account, can feel overwhelming and unfamiliar to our students. With different needs, each woman is assigned a dedicated keyworker to develop solution-focused sessions.
Group & Community Work
Isolation is a frequent side-effect of domestic abuse. Many women leave unhealthy relationships feeling unsupported, disconnected, and unsure how to rebuild relationships.
Moving from isolation to social engagement is a significant step, but an important one for rebuilding self-confidence and healthy relationships.
We offer a range of group activities, including community volunteering, excursions, gym classes, and animal-related activities. These often have dual purposes: helping women build supportive connections while discovering hobbies or interests they enjoy.
Individual Development
Alongside finding your place within a trusted network, it’s important to rediscover yourself. Survivors of domestic abuse have experienced long periods of thoughts being questioned, feelings being dismissed, their opinions being mocked, and their identity gradually disappearing.
Our individual development sessions focus on understanding what inspires our service users. Whether it’s reading without fear, exercising freely, or travelling solo, it’s about finding outlets that bring joy and autonomy. We also help individuals in processing their story to prevent it from defining them.
Educational Activities
Gaslighting not only leaves survivors questioning their own thoughts and opinions, but it can also make them doubt their capabilities and understanding of the world. We curate educational sessions purposely designed to instil confidence and awareness in key areas such as budgeting, sexual health, and job applications. We also run classes on consent and healthy relationships to raise awareness of what is and isn’t acceptable in a relationship.
Therapeutic Sessions
Everyone processes trauma differently. It’s essential that our students find an outlet that not only works for them but is something they actively want to participate in. We support our students in finding solutions that feel safe, meaningful, and empowering.
Our therapeutic sessions include specialist counselling with experienced professionals, daily journaling and CBT therapy. For those who find peace in faith, religion, or spirituality, we also encourage engagement with local communities and practices.
Key Takeaways & Long-term Benefits
The aim of our Restore programme is to achieve five clear outcomes:
- Improved Physical Survival
- Improved Social Needs and Belonging
- Increased safety and security
- Self-worth and esteem
- Meaning and purpose
We want our students to leave the programme knowing who they are, what they want from life, and the belief to make it happen. Everyone deserves to feel hopeful, and that’s precisely how we want every woman to feel.
Celebrating Our Graduates
In 2025, we were incredibly proud to celebrate the graduates of our Restored Programme. These women put themselves first, committing time, energy, and vulnerability to aid their recovery.
We marked this milestone with a graduation celebration, honouring their strength, resilience, and growth. Their achievements are a powerful reminder of what is possible with the right support.
