JOB TITLE: VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR
LOCATION: NORTHAMPTON WITH POSSIBILITY OF SOME WORK IN OTHER AREAS OF THE COUNTY.
RESPONSIBLE TO: PROGRAMMES MANAGER
REPONSIBLE FOR: SUPPORTING DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY OF VOLUNTEERING TO INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL GROUPS
SALARY: £26,038 (pro rata £14,074)
WORKING ARRANGEMENTS: 20 hours per week – flexible working can be discussed.
OVERVIEW OF EVE
Nene Valley Christian Family Refuge (known as eve) has been working in the field of domestic abuse for over 40 years, developing and delivering a range of services for women, with or without children. The organisation is founded on a Christian ethos and the faith foundation is still the motivational base for the work today.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POST: The Volunteer Co-ordinator will be accountable for supporting the development and delivery of Volunteer Roles against a co-ordinated recruitment plan as directed by their line manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
KNOWLEDGE: Essential
- Excellent understanding of the role of volunteers within an organisational structure.
- Good knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse, with an understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on victim-survivors and their children
- Current awareness of national and local domestic abuse policy and responses, and resources.
- Understanding of legal responsibilities of employers with regards to volunteers and volunteering within an organisation.
- Understanding of safeguarding issues and responsibilities surrounding these.
EXPERIENCE: Essential
- Working at junior management level, delivery of supervision and co-ordination roles.
- Working with vulnerable adults (and children), including those with complex needs.
EXPERIENCE: Desirable
- Working with victims of domestic abuse
SKILLS: Essential
- Ability to make professional, client-centred decisions using appropriate policies, procedures to guide those decisions
- Understanding of and ability to deliver in a trauma informed way
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

- Computer literacy skills – including Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, other presentation software and mail merging/sharing programmes.

- Be in possession of a valid driving licence and have a vehicle that is available during working hours – or be able to demonstrate appropriate and efficient ways of travelling effectively when required.

MAIN DUTIES:
- Work with the PROGRAMMES MANAGER and other members of the Leadership Team to develop, deliver and regularly update the Core Volunteering Programme that meets identified needs of the organisation for the effective delivery of services to all our stakeholders.
- Work with PROGRAMMES MANAGER and other members of the Leadership Team to oversee recruitment of volunteers.
- Support volunteers including ensuring regular supervision/support meetings.
- Work with the PROGRAMMES MANAGER and other colleagues to develop and deliver agreed and bespoke volunteering programmes,
- Work with the PROGRAMMES MANAGER and other colleagues to design and deliver bespoke volunteering programmes for external clients.
- Support delivery of agreed training to volunteers.
- Assist in regularly updating materials for training volunteers.
- Support collection and reporting of management information data, including achievement against outcomes, writing reports
Miscellaneous
- Contribute to the practical outworking of the Christian ethos of the organisation, encouraging, promoting and modelling attitudes that support healthy relationships.
- Work with staff and volunteers to create and maintain a culture of welcome, restoration, recovery and hope.
- Compile reports, recommendations and evaluations to inform funding applications and marketing strategies, provide feedback to funders and for the CEO to deliver to interested parties/supporters.
- As required cover staff holidays and sickness
- Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to the work.
- Keep and maintain records both electronic and paper based as appropriate and provide written reports where required.
- Attend and contribute regularly to team development days, staff meetings, supervision and other team events.
- Undertake further training opportunities as appropriate.
- Any other duties as required by Trustees or Leadership Team from time to time.
