Our Programmes

We deliver three specialist training programmes to help:

Survivors of domestic abuse heal and move forward

Children and young people affected by domestic abuse understand what’s happened and how it makes them feel

Perpetrators to change their behaviour

The Restored Programme

We know how difficult it can be for survivors of domestic abuse to move forward. Restored is a structured recovery programme for female survivors, which provides a safe space to start your recovery journey.

You will be supported to engage in therapeutic and educational activities, which are designed to help you heal and move forward.

You can engage in Group Work with other survivors of Domestic Abuse either as part of the Restored Programme or as stand alone group support.

Restored aims to:

  • offer a secure setting with a sense of family
  • help women, children and young people to understand what makes healthy family relationships
  • support survivors to build resilience and independence, working towards long-term freedom from abusive relationships
  • celebrate achievements and successes.

Own My Life

An innovative, creative, educational 12-week course for women that can be run online or in person. The course enables women to regain ownership of their lives after they have been in a relationship with someone who has hurt them.

Course facilitators will provide a caring, supportive and safe space for women to meet together and do the course (either in person or online). It is interactive with lots of short videos, quizzes and discussion. Each participant receives the Own My Story journal, which has all the ideas, key concepts and content from the course, with space for reflection and notes.

Stay Free

Stay Free is a 21 group for women survivors of Domestic Abuse who have broken free from an abusive relationship, and would like to find ways of healing from the trauma of abuse and maintaining that freedom. It’s an ideal follow-on group for those who have attended the  Freedom Programme or Own My Life but also a valuable experience even if you have not.

Childcare facility

While you take part, our specially trained and qualified creche team can look after your children, helping you to get the most out of your therapeutic group work and other support services.

Services for Children and Young People

If you’re a child and you’ve found this page, you’ve taken a brave step towards getting help.

If someone at home is hurting you, or another member of your family, that’s not okay. Nobody, of any age, should have to live with violence or abuse.

It’s important to remember that what is happening is not your fault and you don’t have to deal with it alone. There are people who can help you. Remember, hitting or hurting someone is against the law. Nobody has the right to hurt another person.

Seeing one of your parents hurt the other may make you feel scared or confused. You might feel too ashamed or afraid to tell anyone about what is going on at home.

Please talk to someone you trust – a family member like your grandparent(s), aunt or uncle or your teacher, coach or youth worker. You’re not alone, there are services to help and support you such as Childline.

The Refresh Programme

We understand the impact domestic abuse can have on families. It’s important that both mothers and children are supported to heal and build healthy parent-child relationships.

Refresh is a programme dedicated to children and young people. After an assessment of need, an individual Personal Development Plan is created, identifying groups and activities to aid recovery.

Refresh aims to support children and young people to:

  • understand what a healthy relationship looks like
  • build their resilience, confidence and self-esteem
  • develop relationships and networks within the local community
  • keep themselves safe
  • learn strategies to move forward after domestic abuse.

Children and young people will access a range of transformative, fun and engaging activities, delivered through:

  • talking
  • listening
  • play
  • creative and interactive sessions
  • group work where they can meet with others of their own age group to grow in their understanding of their experience of domestic abuse.

Domestic Abuse for Youth – The DAY Programme

DAY is a unique multimedia programme that uses short films, advertisements and chart music to raise awareness and provide education about domestic abuse and exploitation in a relevant and exciting way.  It is designed to be used with young people over the age of 14, although can be adapted for use with young people over 11 years old.

It challenges detrimental mind-sets about abuse and exploitation, explores how beliefs inform behaviour, and looks at the role of the media in reinforcing unhealthy beliefs.

Domestic Abuse Recovering Together – DART

DART is for mothers and children (aged 7-14) who’ve experienced domestic abuse. Over a 10-week programme, they explore their issues within a safe and friendly environment, promoting openness and honesty. This programme is designed for one mum and one child per family. But if they have more than one child, you may invite them to complete the programme with the other children at a later time.

Our team

Each team member working with children and young people is specially trained. Supported by our dedicated volunteers, the team is committed to supporting children and young people to transform their lives.

Over 30 weekly group sessions, male perpetrators are encouraged to work together and support each other to:

  • identify abusive behaviour
  • take ownership and responsibility for the abuse
  • make positive behaviour changes.

Topics include:

  • non-violence
  • non-threatening behaviour
  • respect
  • honesty and accountability
  • negotiation and fairness
  • parenting

A 1-1 programme is delivered to female perpetrators for 20 weeks.

Topics include:

  • Signals and Time-Out
  • Thoughts, Feelings and Behaviour
  • Minimisation, Denial and Blame
  • Threats, Intimidation and Harassment

  • Intimacy and Respect
  • Accountability

If you’re living in Northamptonshire, determined to change your behaviour and ready to commit to the programme, we want to hear from you. We will ask you to supply contact details for partners and ex-partners, who must be 18 or over, so we can make sure they’re offered support.

Agency referral

If you’re working with perpetrators, you can refer them to the programme. We will carry out an initial assessment and we would ask that you remain involved with the family throughout the programme.
